Harvey sharp as Mets blank White Sox

I believe as we continue, Matt’s going to get better.

Losers in six straight series, the White Sox appeared headed for a seventh as Mets starter Steven Matz dominated them early.

With Harvey seemingly in good health as he reached this nadir, the question of how a young superstar would handle the sort of on-field adversity he had never faced before. A 6.0-game lead in the AL Central entering May 10 has evaporated into a 1.0-game deficit and a third-place standing in the division.

Harvey had even breezed through the minor leagues, too. All of that should die down, at least for a little while, as Harvey looked like Harvey once again while downing the White Sox. They’ve lost 13 of 16 overall, are now on a seven-game losing streak, and are also 0-6 in their last six road games, too.

He allowed two unearned runs before yielding a two-run homer in the third to fall behind 4-0. The right-hander won for the second time in May and for the first time since May 6 by allowing three runs on five hits over six innings vs. the Tribe. Before Monday’s start, however, Harvey had his old swagger back. With Mat Latos set to face Steven Matz in the pitching matchup, the over/under for this game now sits at 7.5 runs. He has converted 33 consecutive save opportunities dating to last season. Kahnle has posted a 2.76 ERA in 16.1 relief innings with the Knights so far this season.

Brandon Crawford’s run-scoring single in the ninth was the Giants’ third straight hit off Arodys Vizcaino.

The latest losing streak and slump is of course, not entirely Ventura’s fault.

“When I went to take him out, I asked Kevin [Plawecki] what the difference was, and he thought he started rushing a little bit, and all the balls were in the middle of the plate”, Collins said. General manager Rick Hahn came to Ventura’s defense on Tuesday, but stopped short of giving a vote of confidence. You’ll have to keep waiting, and good for the Sox general manager.

They have had no problem jettisoning players that weren’t getting it done whether they be recent signings (Keppinger), long-term Sox players (Danks), or locker room distractions (LaRoche). That’s the most in team history after 51 games. Robles’s awful, horrible, no good, very bad week got worse when he issued a lead-off walk to Melky Cabrera and he gave up a home run to Tyler Saladino two batters later.

“It’s frustrating when you get pitches to hit and don’t do nothing with them”, Frazier said. Nonetheless, he now boasts a.235 average at the dish with one extra-base hit. What gets this team playing better baseball?

Which leads me to this point: it is time for a rebuild on the Southside. Granderson tagged up on Michael Conforto’s fly ball to center and then scored on Yoenis Cespedes’ sacrifice fly. Latos, Rollins and Austin Jackson. And then Murphy made it worse. All were high draft picks of Williams’ with the hopes of being contributors. “He came over from the minor-league side, and it was pretty obvious he just knew how to play, knew where to be, wasn’t fazed by anything, just plays hard”. Since the White Sox can’t draft well enough to maintain their status in baseball, they should acquire as much talent as possible from other organizations while dropping payroll. “The idea is to do everything you can to help the team and I felt like I wasn’t doing that very well”. The Cubs and Astros coming into the season were viewed by many as the sexy pick for the 2016 World Series due to their young talent and organizational depth.

Firing Robin Ventura will not fix everything that is wrong with the White Sox. It’s time for a change.
