Wasserman Schultz goes from favored to on the outs

On the heels of a tumultuous Republican convention, Hillary Clinton arrives in Philadelphia eager to show off a forward-looking Democratic Party united behind her steady leadership.

Wasserman Schultz visited the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, to try and get out a blue message in a sea of red.

When the Clinton campaign was asked at a briefing today if Wasserman Schultz would be in the arena tonight, campaign staffers said they didn’t know.

Hillary took a hit in the polls during her Federal Bureau of Investigation email scandal, and now her convention is marred in corruption.

“I want someone with the proven strength to persevere, someone who knows this job and takes it seriously, someone who understands the issues a president faces are not black and white”, Mrs. Obama said. She said in the statement that she would open and close the convention and address delegates about what is at stake in the election.

The outgoing chair offered effusive praise of Clinton today, telling those at the reception how she supported Clinton even before the candidate announced her run in 2008.

Republicans, over months of contests throughout the country, picked Trump over 16 other challengers, many of them seasoned politicians. And no attempt by Team Hillary to redirect public attention to the source of the leaks – they insist Russian Federation is behind the email breach, and that the leaks were a bid to prop up Donald Trump – will assuage the Bernie backers. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., participates in the Democratic Candidates Debate hosted by NBC News and YouTube on January 17, 2016, in Charleston, South Carolina.

DNC Vice Chair Donna Brazile, a veteran Democratic strategist who will lead the party on an interim basis after the convention, warned more leaked emails, and more apologies, could be coming.

Clinton will accept the Democratic nomination and deliver one of the biggest speeches of her political life – on par with declaring in China that “women’s rights are human rights” and more important than her 2008 concession speech in which she declared she’d placed “18 million cracks” in the glass ceiling. Her departure comes a few days after the publication of 19,000 hacked emails, which Sanders said confirmed his belief the national party played favorites for Clinton during the primary. And no one works harder for her constituents in Congress than Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

That prompted runner-up Sanders to call Sunday for Wasserman Schultz’s immediate resignation.

Fealk said he viewed the emergence of hacked DNC emails, which suggested favoritism of Clinton, as a revelation and evidence of the party’s disrespect for progressives.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairperson of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), speaks during a campaign event for Hillary Clinton. She didn’t gavel in and she won’t speak at all Monday night, something Bernie Sanders supporters from in tell me is the right move.

It will be an early bit of drama ahead of a convention lineup that’s packed with star power – with two presidents, a vice president and the first lady serving as warm-up acts for Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine.

Donald Trump isn’t giving up the spotlight as Democrats meet in Philadelphia to formally make Hillary Clinton their presidential nominee. “While she deserves thanks for her years of service, the party now needs new leadership that will open the doors of the party and welcome in working people and young people”. The campaign also accused Moscow of trying to meddle in the US election and help Trump, who has said he might not necessarily defend North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies if they are attacked by Russian Federation.
