Annie Rose admits she finds it hard to believe her son is an Olympic champion after Justin claimed golf’s first gold medal for 112 years on Sunday.
Stenson, whose poor chip left him a near-impossible putt to stay level with Rose, closed with a bogey to take the silver on 270, one stroke ahead of U.S. bronze medalist Matt Kuchar.

Ko played five holes of the layout while Rose was holding off Sweden’s Henrik Stenson for the title and later had her photo taken with Rose and his gold medal.

Stenson and Rose said it was a demanding and pressure-packed afternoon as temperatures rose into the 80s Fahrenheit. That was very special.
“The Olympic spirit has exceeded all my expectations”, he said.
“Hopefully his vibes came off to me, ” Ko said of Rose.
“I can assure you it is the happiest I have ever been finishing third”, the 38-year old Floridian said.
Golf’s future in the Games will be debated over the next few years but Rose said Sunday’s exciting finale in front of big crowds should guarantee its spot beyond Tokyo 2020.
At the British Open, Rory McIlroy said he was only going to watch the sports “that matter” at the Olympics. Many were waving flags and decked out in the country’s colors. “I didn t play my best”.
Kuchar seemed as excited about his bronze as Rose was for his gold.
Whitlock’s floor gold was a first for Britain in Olympic gymnastics.
“He (McIlroy) said he was very, very proud”, said Rose. But it was deeper than just the guys on the podium.
“I’ve never seen my little boy in tears …”
