In different digs, Trevor Knight gets another shot at Tide

Hey, it’s not easy being the best. Hurts, a true freshman, has added a dynamism to complement a devastating defense led by MLB Shaun Dion Hamilton. One Las Vegas book says the Crimson Tide are at touchdown better than the next best team in the country, Ohio State.

While Alabama was dismantling Tennessee 49-10 last week, the Aggies had time to recharge before traveling to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, this week. This dual-threat ability was showcased just last week against Tennessee. That’s when Oklahoma defeated the Tide 45-31 in the Sugar Bowl, thanks mainly to the play of quarterback Trevor Knight, who later transferred to Texas A&M. While it’s ridiculous that they’re favored by ten points, they’ll win this game because they’ll control the line of scrimmage and prevent Austin Allen (who happens to be the conference’s most prolific passer this season) from impacting this game.

What Texas A&M really needs, though, is defensive end Myles Garrett back at 100 percent. Although the Aggies’ offense has been potent so far in 2016, they haven’t yet played a defense like Alabama’s. West Virginia QB Skyler Howard is more seasoned than TCU’s Kenny Hill.

Garrett, who missed the win over SC due to a leg injury sustained in a 45-24 win over Arkansas, has four sacks and six quarterback hurries in five games. But even a couple of Tigers, whose seasons seemed finished except for playing out the games – aforementioned LSU (4-2, 2-1) and No. 21 Auburn (4-2, 2-1). The Rebels’ passing offense sits atop the SEC and is No. 14 in the FBS. He has 704 yards and 5 touchdowns on the season.

They still have Missouri on the schedule, but then they’d need to upset either Auburn, Ole Miss or Tennessee. “Raucous” will be an understatement.

Like Hurts, he enrolled in January, continued to improve and impress throughout the spring, summer and fall camp, and is now a key figure heading into a game between two of the top-ranked teams in the country. The Razorbacks had a nice rebound with a 34-30 win over Ole Miss last week after losing to Alabama. And how can the Rebels play defense so similar to the New Orleans Saints?

No. 23 Ole Miss at No. 25 LSU, 9 p.m. ET – After all that has gone on at LSU, the Tigers still find themselves in the picture for the SEC West title. A loss could torch their hopes of a possible national championship.

Overall, Sumlin’s teams have been a double-digit underdog seven times.

Memphis at No. 24 Navy, 3:30 p.m. ET – This game is for first place in the American Athletic Conference West Division and the victor controls its own destiny for the title game. Saturday’s a must-win to keep the positive energy flowing. The FBS is ruled by money, and likely wouldn’t allow Western Michigan into the playoffs even if they beat Alabama on the road.

For both teams. It’s the second time in four seasons that the SEC West showdown has featured No. 1 versus No. 6 and the third Top 10 matchup in that span. Quick note to Hornibrook, though: don’t throw it near Iowa’s reigning Thorpe Award victor, cornerback Desmond King.

PASS RUSHERS GALORE: The game features some of college football’s premier quarterback chasers.

If the SEC isn’t your jam, take a look outside the Power Five for some stellar matchups this week.

“Going a whole year with an empty trophy case, (without) seeing it in the locker room every day, it kind of makes you angry a little bit”, Wisconsin quarterback Alex Hornibrook said, via Fox Sports.

South Florida quarterback Quinton Flowers is an absolute nightmare for opposing defenses. The Aggies have experienced the full spectrum of what that game can produce.

Also, the MAC’s two best stories square off, as undefeated No. 20 Western Michigan faces 5-2 Eastern Michigan. “I’m the head basketball coach”. This season, Alabama is 3-1 ATS at home, and 2-1 on the road. The victor will have the inside track to a berth in the SEC championship game, presumably with a playoff shot on the line.
