– Mick Foley’s appearance at Roadblock last night drew some attention, as WWE had said on Friday that the Raw General Manager would be taking the rest of the year off. Now all men are focused on the WWE Universal Championship (because Roman Reigns doesn’t care about his own dang United States Championship) and the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View.
After Monday’s RAW from Columbus, OH, Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens returned to the ring after Braun Strowman left.
The main event was set up as Reigns and Rollins vs Owens and Jericho. Sure, he’s a heel champion, and heels often win in nefarious ways, but Owens has to be the most ineffectual champion in recent memory. Despite Jericho’s early control over the match and Kevin Owens interference Rollins managed to beat Jericho with the pedigree.
The 2017 Rumble will take place on January 29th from The Alamodome in San Antonio. Mick Foley nearly threw in the towel for Zayn in the middle of the match, but Zayn didn’t let him. He then demonstrated how it worked, locking Jericho and then raising the cage, much to his dismay.
After his heel turn at Roadblock: End of the Line the previous night, Neville explained his actions with an in-ring promo. He searched for Foley backstage demanding Zayn, “or else”.
Christmas is the season of goodwill – unless you’re Braun Strowman!
As of last week, Big Cass and Rusev were amongst the favourites to stand next to the infamous trophy.
Featured bouts include Kevin Owens defending the WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho and Sasha Banks defending her WWE Raw Women’s Championship vs. Charlotte in a 30-minute iron man match. And Bayley answered the call. Allow Cesaro and Sheamus the evening to bask in the glory. But, the more Charlotte looked to take control, the more Banks would keep her attack at bay.
Nia Jax would return to the ring after a while and she looked absolutely brutal. So that’s where that’s going. “Cole referenced Hogan in terms of Charlotte’s “best start ever” in her first twenty matches, saying it is “…better than the likes of Hulk Hogan, Brock Lesnar, and even The Undertaker”. There are more women on the RAW roster, and they deserve their time to shine, too. The New Day to become the new tag-team Champions After just beating Demolition’s record as the longest reigning WWE World Tag Team Champions, The New Day lost in an incredible match to the odd couple of Cesaro & Sheamus.
I have no idea what the correct move is to help save the division from joining the failed Hardcore, European, and Lightweight divisions before it, but it appears as though the WWE is desperately grasping at straws to try to save something that is fun and entertaining at its foundation, but isn’t resonating with anyone but wrestling die-hards.
A few weeks ago, Meltzer reported that Reigns vs. Strowman could happen at WrestleMania 33. At least, not with Amore.
