Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott combine for 5 TDs as Cowboys dominate Lions

People have been voicing the idea for quite some time that Elliott’s workload should be lightened in order to keep him fresh, but the rookie claims that even though he has played more games this season than he would in a college season, he played nearly every offensive snap in a typical game at Ohio State. “We build up enough that you can change [game plans] within a game”.

“If you start to pull back and pull back”, Garrett explained Monday night, per NFL Network columnist Michael Silver, “you lose some of what you built up over all these weeks, and it makes you vulnerable”. The defense struggled in the first half, giving up 21 points to the visitors, but they pitched a shutout in the final half and cruised to victory. One of my friends from southern Texas became a Cowboy fan the minute Zeke was drafted and ran out to buy his jersey the day it became available. Despite the fact that there was nothing left to play for in their second-to-last-game of the season, Dallas started Dak Prescott and played him the entire game against the Detroit Lions. If they win, they’re in.

You might be thinking I am insane by saying that, especially after the performance the squad had on the Detroit Lions’ first three possessions of the game, all of which went for touchdowns. He made it clear his intention is to win in Philly on Sunday, which makes it sound like none of the team’s starters will be riding the bench.

Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott were once again unstoppable.

The Cowboys owner does not seem to feel the same way about the former Jets quarterback, whom the team signed to a one-year deal in September after he lost the starting job – and then his job entirely – to Broncos second-year quarterback Trevor Siemian. Stafford finished with 260 yards passing. “It’s whatever. Let him do what he wants to do”.

The Cowboys’ opening drive saw an ugly, familiar element which nearly killed it, the dreaded red-zone penalty. Detroit took their only lead of the night after the punt.

Elliott has 1,631 yards, almost 400 more than any other running back. Even though the rout was on by the end of the third quarter, Romo never got onto the field. They can either promote him or sign a running back for the game.

Elliott was no slouch, either, gaining 92 yards on 13 touches and finding the end zone twice. Going from being a fourth-round draft pick who was supposed to struggle learning the NFL game to Pro Bowl quarterback on the best team in the NFC and possibly the entire league in one season is just not supposed to be something you can do. He now has 1631 yards, and he will need a miraculous game to reach it. The drive was 7 plays, 63 yards and took 3:35. At the bottom of this unprecedented QB shuffle is a foundation of coaches and other QBs that make the now 13-2 Cowboys what they are – a model for franchises around the league.
