An early message to McDonald’s seeking comment wasn’t immediately answered; more than an hour after the incident, the company said that its Twitter account “was compromised“.
After quickly deleting the tweet from its Twitter account, the fast food giant also issued an apology.
Terri Hickey, a spokesperson for McDonald’s, said: “Twitter notified us that our account was compromised“. Others became concerned about the company’s social media manager. Whoever tweeted it really wanted to make sure that a lot of people saw it, which is why it was the “pinned tweet” for this account Thursday morning before it was deleted. It remained live for almost half an hour before being struck from the internet record, but the magic of screenshots allows us all to continue to enjoy it for as long as we desire. The hacking comes just one day after hundreds of Twitter accounts including Justin Bieber’s and Forbes were hacked. However, the MCD Tweet was specifically targeted at his personal account. The post also waxed nostalgic for former president Barack Obama.
While McDonalds is not known for its kosher fare in the United States, Israel’s chains provide the famous fries and burgers that observant MOTs can consume without needing to atone on Yom Kippur.
Looks like McDonald’s went from chicken fingers to Twitter fingers.
Or maybe McDonald’s is actually jumping off the fence and standing its ground against Trump.
