American Airelines brags about their Bronze Lion

With all the shit surrounding the Cannes it’s almost become a bad thing to brag about any awards given there…. well here is their release.

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 27 — An American Airlines commercial produced by TM Advertising, American’s long-standing advertising agency of record, was awarded a Bronze Lion at the prestigious 55th International Advertising Festival, the world’s largest and most revered advertising competition. The commercial, “Team Building,” which can be viewed on http://www.aa.com/whyyoufly, features two co-workers desperately trying to change their flights to an earlier departure so they can escape their team-building seminar. Directed by Frank Todaro of Moxie Pictures, the commercial aired this spring and will be on the air and online again in the fall. More than 25,000 pieces of work were entered in this year’s festival, and American Airlines was the only airline in the world to win a Lion this year in the category of Film for Travel, Transport and Tourism.

“We’re delighted with this recognition and know what an incredible honor this is in the advertising industry,” said Roger Frizzell, American Airlines Vice President – Corporate Communications and Advertising. “‘We Know Why You Fly’ has been a very successful campaign and well received by consumers. We could not be more pleased with the level of strategic and creative work that TM Advertising continues to produce for us.”

The 55th International Advertising Festival was held June 15-21, 2008, in Cannes, France. More than 10,000 advertising professionals and advertisers worldwide attended Cannes this year, making 2008 the biggest festival to date.

“We’re experiencing a renaissance in creativity that spans long-standing clients like American Airlines and Nationwide,” said Jim Walker, Chief Creative Officer for TM Advertising. “Winning a Cannes Lion is a tremendous honor. We’ve made it a priority to attract and cultivate a team of top creative talent, and we’re absolutely thrilled with the results.”
